Working with Children Suitability Check
Anyone who works with children in Seychelles, paid or as a volunteer, needs a clearance from the Social Affairs Department before starting. The check covers the police record and enquiries with relevant bodies, and the clearance is valid for three years.

Documents to prepare

- Reference letter from the employer before that

A photo taken with a phone is accepted. Files up to 10 MB: PDF, JPG or PNG.
What happens next
- 1Submit the formFill in the application online, upload the listed documents and sign. A reference number is e-mailed to you.
- 2VerificationThe Monitoring and Compliance Section checks the form. Missing documents are requested by e-mail (28 days to supply them).
- 3Background checksThe Director arranges a police record check and enquiries with relevant bodies (regulation 8).
- 4DecisionThe Director decides within 30 days of lodgement (regulation 10). The outcome is sent to your e-mail address.
- 5Clearance certificateA clearance is valid for three years (regulation 12). Employers can check it online.
Applying again
- A clearance expires after three years. Apply again between four months before and one month after the expiry date (regulation 12).
- A refused applicant may apply to the Review Panel within 28 days of the notice (regulation 25).
- After a refusal, a new application is accepted after five years, or earlier where circumstances have changed (regulation 22).
- A change in circumstances must be reported within 7 days; a change of employer within 21 days (regulations 14 and 15).
